Simona Merlusca

PhD candidate in United Kingdom

Hello,

I am a frontline professional (social worker), lecturer, and researcher.

Having built my career following studying different subjects such as Law, Social Work, Psychology, I value knowledge and innovation and am currently completing a doctorate, by researching the experiences of ‘Self’ in the Codependency context.

As a researcher so far, I have co-authored a journal article, which has been included in a book put together as part of a collaboration project between Salford University and a charity focused on addiction (Game On project), details of which can be found below:

Games, Gambling and Generation Z: Disruptive approaches to awareness of gambling harms - A practical guide to implementation

Journal articles based on my research are currently being finalised, and the details of the preprint versions will be added soon.

Having practiced as a social worker for over 7 years, and being a frontline practitioner for over 10 years, I have become aware of the opportunities and challenges presented in following such a life path, and developed a real desire to support people who live their lives to heal others, to heal and love themselves.

I have already used the experience, knowledge, and skills gained so far in lecturing and teaching adult students at undergraduate level, and successfully mentored students at Masters level.

Through this process I have been able to solidify my purpose in life and understand how valuable my experience, training, and research can be to myself and to others.

Dedicated to the purpose of helping people value themselves, I realised that the first step to having successful relationships and genuine impact was to understand the meaning of self-worth first and foremost.

As frontline practitioners, teachers, mums and dads, and professionals setting role models for others, looking at our personal lives and growth first, means leaving a legacy with the potential of changing the paths of a multitude of lives behind us.

I have training and courses coming up in the near future, and if you would like to be notified when these are available, please feel free to join my mailing list.
